International Outreach Coordinator
STAND: A Student Anti-Genocide Coalition is an umbrella organization of over 800 high school and college chapters dedicated to putting an end to genocide, specifically the ongoing genocide in Darfur, Sudan. STAND formed out of the rapidly growing student movement to protect the people of Darfur and works to unify this anti-genocide movement under one message by providing students with informational, educational and organizing resources, empowering them through an extensive network of impassioned student activists and advocating for a change in the world's mentality towards genocide.
STAND is the student division of the Genocide Intervention Network.
The following job description offers a brief overview of a particular position on the STAND Managing Committee (MC), followed by four categories:
1. Management Duties:
These are the essential tasks that each Coordinator will be responsible for completing.
2. Coordination Duties:
Communication and teamwork are key to an effective Managing Committee; therefore, this section outlines the ways in which each Coordinator will work with other members of the Managing Committee (MC).
3. Accountability Obligations:
Coordinators will be held accountable for their duties through the relationships and measures described in this section.
4. Required Skills:
This section outlines the abilities and experience necessary for each position.

International Outreach Coordinator
The International Regional Outreach Coordinators will work with the International Outreach Coordinator to build and develop a strong network of STAND chapters outside of the United States by focusing on one particular region of the world. This position will require particularly strong vision, planning, creativity and self-motivation, along with a passion for the position’s corresponding region.
Management/Coordination Duties:
- Researching and understanding the region. Achieving cultural and political knowledge of specific countries within the region, and of the region as a whole. Achieving an understanding of the student life within the region.
- Seeking out contacts. It is the job of the ROC to come up with innovative ways to make contact with students in their region, and to continually expand the level of contact he/she has with the region.
- Assisting contacted students in forming STAND chapters by
- Providing materials, educational resources and guidance.
- Keeping contacts/chapters up to date on the international campaign that is coordinated by the IOC.
- Ensuring that all contacts receive the weekly newsletter sent out by the IO Coordinator.
- Maintaining an up-to-date database of regional contacts and keeping track of the progress made for all contacts.
- Creating region-specific materials. Working with the International Outreach Coordinator to put together materials relevant to the corresponding region. In some cases, this may mean assisting in a translation process.
- Assisting in the transition process at the end of the IOC’s term.
- Recruiting potential replacements for corresponding iROC position.
- Helping to select the incoming iROC.
- Helping to ensure a smooth transfer of contacts/chapters. Training the incoming ROC on all of the details of the position so that regional outreach continues to be carried out successfully.
Accountability Obligations:
- Maintaining constant communication with the Coordinator and with the rest of the IOC. This means:
- Replying to emails in a timely fashion.
- Completing the weekly check-ins with the Coordinator by phone AND email.
- Attending all the scheduled IOC retreats.
- Keeping an organized, up-to-date spreadsheet of all contacts and chapters, and making sure it is always available for the Coordinator to access.
- Keeping the Coordinator constantly informed of the immediate and long-term needs of all regional chapters.

- Strong ties to communities abroad and a particular passion for a specific world region.
- Strong vision for regional outreach efforts
- Leadership skills, especially ability to motivate and create accountability
