Programming Coordinator
STAND, the student-led division of Genocide Intervention Network, is a network of high school and college chapters and thousands of student activists across the nation committed to the prevention and end of genocide and mass atrocities globally. STAND formed out of the rapidly growing student movement to protect the people of Darfur, Sudan and now works to unify a growing student anti-genocide movement by providing activists with resources to educate and organize in their community, empowering them through an extensive network of impassioned student leaders and advocating for a change in our government’s mentality towards genocide.
The following job description offers a brief overview of a particular position on the STAND Managing Committee (MC), followed by four categories:
1. Management Duties:
These are the essential tasks that each Coordinator will be responsible for completing.
2. Coordination Duties:
Communication and teamwork are key to an effective Managing Committee; therefore, this section outlines the ways in which each Coordinator will work with other members of the Managing Committee (MC).
3. Accountability Obligations:
Coordinators will be held accountable for their duties through the relationships and measures described in this section.
4. Required Skills:
This section outlines the abilities and experience necessary for each position.

STAND Programming Coordinator
The National Programming Coordinator (NPC) is responsible for overseeing the implementation of nationwide STAND programs, campaigns, and events. The NPC structures, plans, and manages the execution of all national STAND initiatives, in consultation with the rest of the MC. The NPC provides input on STAND campaign planning, creates a timeline of upcoming programming for each semester, and develops innovative tactics and strategies for producing relevant and engaging initiatives for STAND members.
Management Duties:
- Manages one or several point people for each particular project.
- Provides input on STAND campaign planning at MC retreats and on conference calls
- Creates a timeline of upcoming programming each semester and a work plan to foster its implementation
- Structures, plans, and manages execution of all national events
- Manages a Programming Team to successfully organize and execute events
- Develops innovative tactics and strategies for producing stronger events
Coordination Duties:
- Participates in weekly communications conference calls with the STAND MC
- Maintains weekly communication with National Outreach Coordinators to identify/address all Outreach programming needs
- Provides the National Outreach Team with the support to meet national STAND programming goals
- Works closely with the Communications Coordinator to develop a website that features the program well
- While overseeing point people, the NPC must also coordinate with members of the MC to create program goals, messaging, advocacy and educational components, as well as outreach plans
- Works with the STAND National Student Coordinator and other groups to enhance STAND events with other resources, networks, and members
Accountability Obligations:
- Works to develop semester, yearly, and long-term goals for STAND in coordination with STAND Staff
- Work with the MC in the of process of developing programmatic (campaign/initiative) priorities
- Communicate efforts, successes, and challenges directly to STAND via monthly metrics in order to inform STAND's programs and available resources
- Set a year-long fundraising goal and work to achieve it using STAND's resources and materials
- Actively participate in weekly MC conference calls
- Check-in weekly with STAND Student Director and Staff
Required Skills:
- Strong planning and organizing skills

- Experience with planning and producing large-scale events
- Talent for creative thinking and innovation
- Strong organization and database management skills
- Experience in marketing, branding, and communications is a plus
