In late July, 2010, 60 members of STAND's Student Leadership Team - made up of over 100 Core Chapter Leaders from across the country- gathered at a summer camp on the East Coast for the first ever STAND Camp! On Monday, July 26th a group of STAND Campers participated in the STAND Camp Lobby Day in D.C. and took their voices, and training, to the hill.

STAND Camp is an all expenses paid, four-day leadership and advocacy training retreat at its finest, with experts, rockstars, and alumni there to conduct trainings and increase organizing skill sets. Plus, we threw in everything you loved about summer camp - from campfire sing-alongs to ropes courses. See the 2010 STAND Camp agenda and a sampling of the trainings and resources offered.

Official STAND Chapters are invited each year to send a representative from their group to STAND Camp to learn the essentials of movement building to take back to their chapter in August. At STAND Camp, chapter representatives will work with the STAND Student Managing Committee and organizing experts to use this training to organize members of their own community to be part of the movement to make genocide prevention a reality.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Who can come to STAND Camp?
-Each chapter that signs up for the 2011-2012 STAND year will be invited to send one representative to STAND Camp. If the chapter leader is unable to attend, feel free to send any other representative who can take the training and materials from STAND Camp back to your chapter!

Where is STAND Camp?
-STAND Camp will take place at the Pearlstone Conference and Retreat Center in Reisterstown, MD. Pearlstone offers lodging, training and activity space to provide everyone with a memorable and educational experience.

How much will it cost?
-There are no fees for STAND Camp - we're paying for everything including space, food, activities and transportation to and from the airport. The only cost to students is transportation to the camp (we recommend flying into BWI - Baltimore, MD airport) and we will have shuttles running all day on Thursday between the airport and the camp. BWI is also the cheapest airport to fly into on the East Coast and we will also be offering a limited amount of small grants to help students who cannot afford the cost of travel - particularly for those students traveling from the West Coast and Midwest.
