Ask the Candidates
As America prepares to elect our next president, the genocide in Sudan continues unabated. American citizens need to know if the next president of the United States has the moral courage to finally end the genocide in Darfur. To this end, we call on the 2008 presidential candidates to make ending genocide in Darfur and around the world a priority in their campaign and in their presidency.
Over the coming months we will be working to ensure that Darfur is an important issue in this election. Together we will make Darfur visible to the candidates and media; obtain concrete commitments from the candidates on Darfur policies; and let the candidates know that American votes for Darfur.
1. Sign the Petition
Ask the candidates to develop a specific Darfur policy to implement on Day One.
2. Show Your Support
Make Darfur a visible issue when you sport "I Vote for Darfur" t-shirts, buttons, hats and more! Show the candidates that Darfur is an important issue in this election by blanketing a campaign event with "I Vote for Darfur" gear.
3. Spread the Word
Send a message to your friends about Ask the Candidates, and get buttons and banners for your own profile, blog or website.
4. Attend a Campaign Event
Let the candidates know that Darfur is an important issue to you ask the candidates about Darfur in person at a campaign event. Then record your question and the candidate's answer here and help us compile the candidates' positions on Darfur.
5. Submit Your Video Statement
The candidates have made their statements, will you make yours? Submit a video and tell us why, come November, you will VOTE FOR DARFUR!
6. Write to the Candidates About Darfur
Contact the candidates and ask them if they have a plan to end the genocide in Darfur.
7. Write a Letter to the Editor
Tell your community why you think Darfur is an important issue in this election.
8. Write an Op-Ed
Submit an op-ed to your local newspaper and call attention to the importance of Darfur in the 2008 elections.
9. Push Darfur into the Media Spotlight
