Groundwork:
- Researched the campaigns and looked into:
- Candidate’s stances on Darfur, including anything they may have said to the press?
- Upcoming events in the area?
- Connected with your Regional Outreach Coordinator (ROC), Regional Advocacy Coordinator (RAC), and Regional Media Coordinator (RMC)?
- Connected with other STAND chapters, community groups, and other like-minded groups in your region?
- Connected with groups that are involved in the election?
- Registered to vote?
Advocacy & Events:
- Received a training session and/or materials on how to engage a candidate’s staff?
- Invited a candidate to speak at an event?
- Attended a candidate’s event and asked about Darfur during the Q&A?
- Submitted questions to a local debate?
- Met with campaign staff?
- Checked whether individual candidates’ investments are Sudan-free?
Media, Media, Media:
- Informed the media of events you’ve held?
- Lobbied editorial boards on the importance of Darfur and genocide as an election issue?
- Written an op-ed or letter to the editor?
- Reached out to your school paper?
