Hearings
All hearings will but will be taking place between January and May of 2009 but are being scheduled one at a time. The Secretary of State confirmation hearings took place on January 13, 2009, and the US Ambassador to the UN hearing took place on January 15, 2009. Click here for more information about the nominees, Hillary Clinton and Susan Rice.
These confirmation hearings, held by the Senate, confirm key appointments to the administration that Obama’s team has made. We are lobbying Senators on the committees who confirm the nominees, and encouraging them to make Darfur a priority in their new post. Check the calendar for dates and stay tuned for taking action around the hearings. Click here for more information on the confirmation hearing process.

UPDATE:
Now, Congress is planning to further cut the foreign aid budget, already less than 1% of our national budget, and slashing funding for disaster assistance, migration and refugee assistance, a complex crises fund and others that keep people alive.
STAND has partnered up with with the ONE Campaign and ten other leading organizations in a nation-wide effort to get our message through to Congress: these cuts will cost lives.
