What does the $50 reigistration fee go towards?

STAND will provide breakfast and lunch on both Saturday and Sunday, and provide all conference attendees with a t-shirt and a variety of materials. Registration fees also help STAND pay for the space rental and for the travel expenses incurred by our speakers and experts.

Where will my child be staying

If your son or daughter is under 18, STAND cannot provide housing for your child. Click here for a list of suggested hotels.

How will my child get around the city?

Washington, DC has a great public transportation system for moving around the city. Click here for information about traveling in the district

Will adults be supervising my child?

Although we expect all attendees to act responsibly at the conference, STAND is a student-run organization and cannot be held responsible for the actions of your son or daughter. Students under 18 are encouraged but not required to bring a chaperone in order to attend. For this reason, STAND cannot accept liability for any attendee’s actions or safety.

If you are an adult leader interested in this opportunity or a chaperone for STAND students, click here for free registration to the Save Darfur Coalition's adult activist conference.

My child is under 18. Will he/she be allowed to lobby and participate in the Transition Rally?

Yes! STAND believes that every student is more than capable of effectively lobbying his or her elected officials for Darfur. All conference attendees will receive in-depth advocacy training over the course of the weekend and will be equally prepared to meet with Senators and Congresspeople. Even if your son or daughter cannot legally vote, they can affect change in their communities and with their elected officials. Click here for more information about the Rally and Lobbying.
