SEAL: Lobby China
Student activists have played a huge role in convincing the US Congress to encourage positive action on the part of the Chinese towards peace in Sudan. Despite some success, however, the current Chinese policy towards the country leaves much to be desired. President Bush must reinforce Congress in using all economic and political tools available to encourage positive and meaningful Chinese engagement with the government in Khartoum.

The corporate sponsors of the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China have the financial leverage to convey to China that in order to stop genocide in Darfur, the government must first stop investing in companies in Sudan. Corporate sponsors must use their influence to ask China to protect the people of Darfur before the Olympic games begin.

STAND will be hosting rallies corporate sponsors rallies in 10 US cities and will ask 13 Olympic corporate sponsors to help make significant change in Darfur. Rallies will be planned by leaders of STAND chapters, like you with support and funding from STAND and Dream for Darfur.
