Plan Your Event

  • Register to STANDFast on December 3rd
  • Advertise your event on your STAND chapter page
  • Put your event on the map so that nearby chapters can support your effort
  • Inform your Regional Outreach Coordinator of your chapter’s event
  • Use your event as a chance to fundraise for civilian protection, educate others on Darfur and Burma, and draw media attention to these conflicts as well as your chapter’s efforts
  • Review a list of successful events that other STAND chapters around the world have held in the past to fundraise for civilian protection

GI-NET’s Civilian Protection Program

  • Let participants know that100% of STANDFast donations go to GI-NET’s Civilian Protection Program
  • Have one-pagers on Civilian Protection and the effects of STANDFast donations ready for distribution at your event
  • $3 allows a woman in Darfur to safely collect firewood for a week
  • $5 enables urgent warnings of an attack to reach villages in Eastern Burma

Fundraise, Save Lives

  • Review our fundraising tips and successes
  • Use our sample STANDFast script and letter to tell family, friends, and community members about your event ask for donations
  • Invite businesses to participate in STANDFast by sponsoring your event
  • Use pledge cards and be ready to collect donations at your event
  • Potential participants will most likely have questions about STANDFast; review the FAQs so you can feel confident in providing the answers they’re looking for

Push for Press

Advocate

  • Include letter writing or 1-800-Genocide information at your event
  • Invite politicians to participate in the fast or your event
  • Take pictures to use later to show to your member of Congress
