Ann Arbor High School Chapter of STAND

Our chapter is unique because we do not run through a high school, but through a local teen center called the Neutral Zone. We recently became one of the Neutral Zone's 21 official programs. We meet weekly, and this year members will have the opportunity to earn high school credit for participating in STAND. We hold various fundraisers, including selling bracelets, tee shirts, and fla-vor-ice for Darfur. This past year we held a concert for Darfur, where bands played for free and all the ticket money went to Darfur, and we also held a movie screening at a local high school, where all the students were required to see "The Devil Came on Horseback," and then attend a question/answer session afterwards. In culmination, we raised almost $2000 for Darfur this year, all of which was sent to the International Rescue Committee. We also write letters to our congressmen often, and one of our members wrote an Op-Ed on Darfur to the Ann Arbor News. During this past year, two articles were written on our group by the school newspaper at a local high school.

This Chapter does not yet have any News Stories.
