Apwonjo

Apwonjo means 'I teach' in Luo, an African language, but it means so much more than that. Apwonjo is an organization full of passionate, caring, and dedicated individuals who want to raise awareness and funds for relief and issues in Africa. In the past we have worked closely with Invisible Children, and will continue to in the coming semester, but we also hope to expand our horizons outside of Uganda and child soldiers, and invest also in issues such as Darfur, XDRTB, AIDS relief and children's healthcare and education. While we are students at the University of Alabama, we are also ready to start a revolution. A revolution of youth who care about a movement, and who can see beyond borders on maps and in our societies enough to look outside of ourselves and our country to help those in the world who need it most. We focus on children, education, and home building for African communities affected by war, poverty, hunger, and disease. It is our mission to open the eyes of our generation to a great cause: We need to live for more, because Africa needs more to live.
