Friday Harbor STAND
The goal of the Friday Harbor STAND chapter is to help raise awareness in our small island community about what is happening in Darfur and other genocide- ridden areas. We want to make a difference. We want to raise money through bake sales and also sell tshirts and other merchandise. We also want to recruit students and the younger generation and encourage them to get involved in something like this at a young age and become passionate about helping others.

This week Alex and I will be handing out advocacy postcards that will eventually go to the White House. Make sure you get one and fill them out!! Give them back to us and we will send them in.

The dinner was a great success, we raised $700 but we definitely couldn't of done with everyones help! Although there weren't many STAND members at the dinner everyone contributed in some way. It went very smoothly and we thank everyone for doing their part. We are almost an official STAND chapter! We've done two of the three things we have to complete to become official, we've created community awareness, had an event and now all we have to do is advocate. We will have a meeting (TBA) to discuss what advocating is and how we're going to do it.
