Concordia Global Action Team

Started in 2009, the Concordia Global Action Team was founded to bring more awareness and compassion about the international humanitarian issues that face our world today to the rural Kansas community in which it exists. CGAT is centered at Concordia High School, with just over 300 or so students, with approx. 20 members. So far, CGAT has raised money for Uganda and Haiti and held educational and advocacy events for the community to learn more about the pressing humanitarian issues that are occurring today.

In early 2010, the Concordia Global Action Team organized and ran a book drive benefiting Invisible Children, a charity organization that benefits schoolchildren in war torn Uganda.

With over 300 books collected, the book drive was a great success for the small community in which it was held, by far the most successful event CGAT has held so far. Books were collected at a high school basketball game where spectators brought their books to the doorways where collection bins with signs were set up.
