Hotchkiss STAND's for Hope

Hotchkiss is an extremely small town, located in the Western Slope of Colorado. Our nearest city is Grand Junction and is about an hour away. It is often said that people in rural areas are unaware of what is going on in the world today because they are so isolated from big and booming areas where information is readily available. I would like to make that statement untrue by gathering together the students of Hotchkiss High School to become aware of the horrible situation in Darfur, Africa and to learn how to take action and help try to stop it. We would educate ourselves thoroughly in the present situation in Darfur as well as learning about genocides in the past and the urgency to which we must take action and not let history repeat itself yet again. I believe the students of Hotchkiss High school would become very passionate about this cause and that same passion would spread to all of our community as we hold fundraising and awareness raising events.
