STAND is a student run anti-genocide coalition (and a division of Genocide Intervention Network) that focuses on education about past and present genocides and works to raise money to assist those affected by genocide. Wanna stay informed? For updates about what's happening with STAND nation-wide and for information on the on-going problems in the Sudan you can sign up for a STAND newsletter at the website (http://www.standnow.org/) by entering your email at the top of the home page. There are also resources about genocide and a blog to read, if you're interested! Welcome and thanks for joining the University of Illinois Chapter of S.T.A.N.D. First off, I would like thank you again for joining this cause. It will not only benifit others but you as well. Knowlege about the world around you is crucial especially with the world around us today. This group was made in effort to fight to stop the genocide in Darfur, Sudan, STAND and is devoted to creating a sustainable student network that actively fights genocide wherever it may occur. We seek to unite students around the world in a permanent anti-genocide constituency. Keep visiting for more information and updates about STAND at UIUC...and PLEASE INVITE YOUR FRIENDS!!! I can't stress that enough, the more people, the more we can spread the word and the more we can spread the word the more we can expand on this project!
