Every successful social movement includes a vibrant student component.
In the genocide prevention movement- the mass effort to protect civilians suffering from violence in Sudan, Syria, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Burma, the Central African Republic, and beyond- those students are STAND students.
STAND, the student-led movement to end mass atrocities, is now a student-run, independent nonprofit organization. This is an incredible time to be a STAND student, and an exciting time for STAND as a national organization. As the only student-led organization dedicated to preventing and stopping mass atrocities, STAND empowers students in a way that few other organizations do: as advocates, as policy experts, as organizers, and as true leaders.
Help us train and invest in STAND students to become informed, skilled, passionate student activists and movement leaders. Your contribution, no matter what size, will help us continue to do what we do best: build a larger, louder, and more effective constituency that can pressure our elected officials to take action against mass atrocities, whenever and wherever they occur.
Let’s think big. We have a lot of work to do, and the voice of every student, the dollar of every supporter, will make a difference.

What do we do?
STAND seeks to develop local, student-led grassroots constituencies committed to ending and preventing atrocities by training and resourcing student leaders in effective advocacy tactics. Through innovative and informed activism, our student organizers create political will in these constituencies to motivate our elected officials and administration to take action toward ending atrocities worldwide.
Through deliberate and experiential leadership development within the genocide prevention movement, STAND seeks to empower students to create long-term political and social change. Our trainings and resources help students develop the skills to become the future change-makers and global thinkers, and together, this STAND generation will transform our current political system into one that prioritizes an end to genocide across the world. Our impact, in other words, will be felt not only in the policies that we influence in the short run, but also in the leaders we develop over the long run.
Where does your money go?
Your tax-deductible donation will go directly to leadership development programs and trainings for STAND students. Contributions from our generous supporters will fund trainings and grants for student activists around the country; support our ability to mobilize voices and connect with survivors, diaspora members, and advocates; enhance our programming creation and online presence; and carry out our mission to stop mass atrocities worldwide, from Sudan to Burma to Syria. Whether it be stipends for student travel, grants for regional conferences, or logistical funding for our bi-annual student leadership team training and planning retreats, money from this campaign will be a direct investment in the leaders of today and tomorrow.
Making genocide prevention activism accessible for all students is important to us. Through funding for student travel and retreats we ensure that financial considerations do not limit passionate and committed students from taking advantage of the opportunities that we provide. We believe an investment in our students is an investment in a better world.
