Banyamulenge Cultural Presentation

The Banyamulenge, a Tutsi minority group from the eastern Congo, have been oppressed and landless for the last 100 years. This group consists of a half a dozen Banyamulenge refugees sharing their music, dance, and stories of escape from the volatile region of North and South Kivu in the Congo on the Congo/Rwanda border. With the amount of violence and instability in the eastern Congo currently, and the death toll rising, this is a great opportunity for all Smith and Five College students.
