Ranchview High School STAND Chapter of Irving TX will be hosting a FREE screening of Sand and Sorrow by Paul Freedman. This class will also consist of presentations regarding ongoing conflicts by Ranchview High School students.

Here is an excerpt from the Sand and Sorrow official website describing the documentary's intentions regarding a depiction of Darfur, Sudan.

"While analyzing the historical events that have given rise to an Arab-dominated government's willingness to kill and displace its own indigenous African people, “Sand and Sorrow” also examines the international community's “legacy of failure” to respond to such profound crimes against humanity in the past. But while immersed in the despairing crisis of our time, Freedman manages to give voice to the ever-growing and inspiring movement of those who wish to make “Never Again” finally mean something."

The situation in Darfur acts as a desperate example of what fate may come upon other countries involved in ongoing Humanitarian conflicts such as the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Come join your neighbors in an informative session about ongoing humanitarian crises, and learn ways we can change the cruelty and injustice forced upon others.

Quick Facts about Darfur:

1. 400,000 lives taken away
2. 2.5 million people without a home
3. We can change the lives of those left
