Save Darfur-chalk.jpg

The first informal meeting of the Concordia High School Global Action/ Save Darfur Group will be on October 1st, from 7-9 in the evening in Mrs. Stiles' room at the back of the high school library. This meeting is for high schoolers only (sorry Jr. High, maybe in the future.) At this meeting, we will:

-have a screening of the critically acclaimed film "Darfur Now" which gives an accurate representation of what is going on in the country. This film will serve as a brief intro. to the situation in Darfur.

-have free refreshments for anybody attending the meeting

-have a presentation by myself on what you will do as a member of the Concordia Save Darfur/ Global Action group, and when, where, and how frequently we will meet, etc.

At this meeting, you will find out:

-What is going on in Darfur?

-Why is it so important? Why should I get involved?

-What can I do to help and get involved?

-Are there any conflicts around the world similar to that happening in Darfur?

-What will we do in this group/ how will we contribute to the resolution of the conflict in Darfur?

At the end of the evening I will give everybody an opportunity to ask me any other questions about the group or the situation in Darfur.

Hope to see you all there!

If you have any questions about the meeting, or about Darfur in general, feel free to email me at siri.mcguire@usd333.com. I also recommend looking around this site- it's a good link for students.

Save Darfur

Siri:
I'm so glad you're finally getting to start this group. It's going to be the best thing to ever happen to this school. Ignorance is the worst poverty that exists, and knowledge the best wealth. Thanks for taking a stand, Siri. You're inspiring. Keep at it.
-Carly
