The STAND Sleep-In '09

The STAND Sleep-In ’09 will be held at the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center on October 17th and 18th from 8:45 P.M. to 8:00 A.M. The goal of this program is to educate teenaged students about conflicts around the world in recent history. The event will feature speakers, each representing a different genocide. Time for questions is allotted. There will be a tour of the museum and programming relating to the understanding of the genocide. We will spend time advocating to Congressmen, Representatives, and other political figures through email, letters, phone calls, ect, as well as defining more creative ways to impact the world. We will also have time during the Sleep-In to reflect on our experiences and the information we have learned. In all, the event should be an exciting night jam packed with education, advocacy, and reflection.

The event will have a suggested donation of $18

Students that do not belong to CJHS are welcome to join us in this educational venture, but must bring with them a signed permission slip. This will be posted in the following days.
