Clark STAND 2009-2010

Clark STAND chapter 2009-2010:

Held weekly meetings that included events planning, careful consideration
of Clark STAND's goals in relation to the main objectives of STAND and its
umbrella organization, Genocide Intervention Network, and educational
updates on the conflicts in Sudan, Congo, and Myanmar.

Created a documentary involving both STAND and Clark students urging
Senator John Kerry to continue advocating for U.S. assistance to the Dem.
Rep. of Congo

Sold water at the Euphoria party in the cafeteria to supplement the STAND
budget

Tabled at Fall FunFest to raise awareness about STAND's activities and
also to benefit the Social Entrepreneurship Club's trips to Sierra Leone
and Brazil

Organized a viewing of the documentary, Darfur Diaries, in Tilton Hall
with a brief introduction by leaders of the ACE program, a predominantly
student-led organization that provides tutoring services to African
refugee children in the Worcester area. Complete with dinner from
Fantastic's.

Collaborated with the V-Day team to hold a Bake Sale at the Vagina
Monologues performances to raise money for Congolese women.

Coordinated with Clark alum Naama Haviv to host Clark grad student and
Jewish World Watch intern Alexis Herr for a powerful presentation of the
violence, corruption, and devastation in the Dem. Rep. of Congo, as well
as a brief talk on what students can do to help.

Co-sponsored Hillel's Midnight Bagel Brunch to raise awareness about the
Sudanese elections through a PowerPoint presentation.

Held a STAND carnival on the Campus Green to further raise awareness about
the Sudanese elections and Omar al-Bashir's attempt to legitimize his war
crimes through a presidential victory. Included petitions to Senator
Clinton asking her to denounce the results of the election, educational
posters, a raffle to benefit GI-NET, and free slushies and cotton candy
