In early 2010, the Concordia Global Action Team organized and ran a book drive benefiting Invisible Children, a charity organization that benefits schoolchildren in war torn Uganda.
With over 300 books collected, the book drive was a great success for the small community in which it was held, by far the most successful event CGAT has held so far. Books were collected at a high school basketball game where spectators brought their books to the doorways where collection bins with signs were set up.

With the passage of the Conflict Minerals Trade Act out of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, the past week has been exciting for advocates working to address the problem of conflict minerals in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Here at Stanford University’s chapter of STAND, we have another exciting (albeit smaller) success to report.
