Invisible Children Book Drive

In early 2010, the Concordia Global Action Team organized and ran a book drive benefiting Invisible Children, a charity organization that benefits schoolchildren in war torn Uganda.

With over 300 books collected, the book drive was a great success for the small community in which it was held, by far the most successful event CGAT has held so far. Books were collected at a high school basketball game where spectators brought their books to the doorways where collection bins with signs were set up.

In addition to benefiting Uganda, the group also helped out the then new crisis that arose in Haiti following its devastating earthquake. Some of the books from the book drive could not be sent in because they were overstocked in the Better World Books warehouse, but were still in excellent condition. Subsequently CGAT approached a local bookstore to trade them the remainder of the books in good condition for a donation to Haiti, and received a $60 donation to the Red Cross in Haiti.

CGAT thanks all who helped and donated to the book drive and made it a success.
