Tom Van Dyke Speaks on the Genocide in Burma

On February 23rd 2010, Tom Van Dyke was flown into Oklahoma from Greensboro to speak to the campus about the genocide in Burma. Tom Van Dyke is the Executive Director of Heroes Serving Humanity. Heroes Serving Humanity(HSH) provides training to indigenous volunteers in first aid, basic medical care, landmine removal and other skills needed to prepare relief team workers. By training local volunteers, HSH builds the capacity of the local population to respond to humanitarian disasters. HSH also provides medicine, pots and pans for cooking, blankets, and other necessities that are not easily found in certain areas of Burma.

Tom Van Dyke gave his personal accounts and experiences in Burma and about the humanitarian work being done in Burma by HSH.

After his presentation, there was not a dry eye to be seen in the audience. Following his presentation was a round of Q&A that was moved dinner talk at a local restaurant in Norman.
