Divest

Actor Don Cheadle joined hundreds of students at the
University of California in support of targeted Sudan divestment. In March, 2006, the University restricted holdings in nine "offending" companies.
“The divestment movement [helps] draw international attention to the appalling situation in Darfur while pressuring the foreign companies working with the murderous Sudanese government to pull out. That could be a catalyst for change in Africa’s worst killing zone.”

- The Los Angeles Times Editorial Board, March 2006

One of STAND’s partner organizations, the Sudan Divestment Task Force, has taken the lead in getting universities, cities, and states around the country to divest their money from the genocidal government of Sudan. This crucial step in the fight against genocide is taking place all around the country.  If you or your STAND chapter would like to start a divestment campaign or find out more about it, email divest@standnow.org.
